After a process driven by artificial intelligence, the desert of the United Arab Emirates is transformed into a great oasis

The desert of the United Arab Emirates has been transformed into a green oasis, little more than a month after the ruler of Sharjah commissioned the planting of wheat.

His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah Emirate, launched the first phase of the wheat planting project covering 400 hectares on November 30, 2022.

This Sunday a video was published of the ruler of Sharjah visiting the farm in the Mleiha desert, this time with the wheat already grown.

Harvest will take place in the coming months.

By 2024 the second phase of the project will expand the area to 880 hectares. By 2025, the crop will have 1,400 hectares.

In a process driven by artificial intelligence, 13-meter irrigation lines deliver water to the crops.

Sheikh Sultan also inspected the state-of-the-art irrigation station during his visit. It provides water to the wheat farm through six large suction pumps with a capacity of up to 60,000 cubic meters of water throughout the day. The water is brought from the Hamda station via a 13-kilometre conveyer line to the farm.
